As you may know, last week was a big press event for Diablo 3 at Blizzard Headquarters. Those who were invited had to sign a NDA for the content they saw there, util August 1st. According to DiabloFans.com, there were many announcements at this press conference, but not a Beta date. Three days from know it will be a conference call about Diablo 3, and maybe then we will know when the beta starts. I think all looks good for a late 2011 release of the game. Bellow are the highlights:
- A glimpse of the intro cinematic show off that impressed the audience and ended with a clash between angels and some sort of demons coming from the sky.
- Lore update about the Dark Wanderer and King Leoric's family.
- There will be three quest items like the Horadric Cube in D2. Cauldron of Jordan (allows you to sell items directly from the wilderness), Nephalem Cube (salvaging goods) and the Stone of Recall (some sort of Heartstone without cooldown, which acts as a town portal).
- Big change to the skills. We can now have only 6 active skills at any time, and 3 passive. The slots will unlock as you level up, and you can shift between skills freely.
- Demon Hunter resources revealed: Hatred and Discipline.
- There will be two Auction Houses (one with gold, and one with real money).
- The beta is very small, about 1 hour of gameplay and it ends with King Leoric. This is about 1/3 of the first act.
